Welcome to the Warrenton Chorale !

Participation Requirements

The Warrenton Chorale is a voluntary, non-audition, community group who are friendly, love music, and have the available time to commit to rehearsals,  dedicated to the production of the finest musical performances possible.  The Christmas Program is to the praise and glory of Jesus Christ and is intended as a musical worship service with all but one or two pieces being sacred in nature.   The Spring Program may be sacred, secular or a combination.  While it helps if interested singers can read music, it is only required that singers use their God-given talents and abilities to learn.

Seasons

There are two concert seasons; Christmas (four concerts the first weekend in December) and spring (one concert the last Sunday in April).

Rehearsal Requirements

We meet for Twelve (12) weeks of rehearsal prior to the concert on Tuesdays from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
We meet in the cafeteria of Highland School, Warrenton, VA.  Click here for directions and map.

Rehearsals are critical to the quality of the performances.  The integrity of the group and its commitment to the highest  caliber performances possible must be respected.  Therefore, attendance at all rehearsals is expected of all participants.  We understand, however,  unforeseen circumstances and illnesses may arise.  Two misses will be allowed.  The third miss will be reviewed by the director, section leader, and chairman of the board.  The fourth miss will require a letter from the participant explaining the misses, with reasonable assurances that no further misses will occur, and a commitment for working on the music missed during rehearsals at home.  This will be reviewed by the full board and voted upon.  We can not allow participation for five or more misses.

Rehearsal Etiquette

Please, arrive promptly for warm-up exercises. Wear comfortable clothing and please do not "refresh" your cologne or perfume. Many are sensitive to odors and some of us have strong allergies.  Turn off cell phones and pagers. Pay attention to the music director’s instructions. (We recommend you write his notes on your music in pencil and mark, with an arrow, your part.) Proper hydration is essential for your vocal health as well as general health.  We strongly encourage you to bring a bottle of water to rehearsal.  Please wear your name tag !

Registration Fee

Warrenton Chorale has one of the lowest registration costs in the D.C. area.  $35.   This covers only a fraction of our operating costs.  Donations are gratefully accepted and recognized in the concert programs on the Friends of the Chorale page.

Dress

Men who have their own tuxedos may wear them.  The Chorale will provide bow tie and cummerbund.  If a tux is needed, the Chorale will order one for you for purchase (preferred) or $20 annual rent.

Women are required to wear the Chorale dress.  You will be fitted and a dress ordered for you for purchase.   Some used gowns may become available in the future for a discounted purchase price, but, as of Fall, 2009, all gowns are new.

Child Care

No child care is provided for rehearsals or concerts.
